How can you go wrong with a restaurant called Feelings?
Feelings Cafe maintains the homey charm of its surroundings--the main house and slave quarters of the former D'Aunoy Plantation. A large dining area just inside the restaurant harbors a warm feel, thanks to candlelit tables covered in white and low music. Exposed brick, antique mirrors and paneling polish the effect. Across the hall, the narrow and colorful bar opens onto the tree-shaded courtyard.
Appetizers like the flavorful but smooth pate a la maison or the meaty crab cakes aren't large, but they're also not expensive and won't spoil your appetite. Good news, given you don't want to miss a bite of the red snapper Moutarde--sauteed and topped with hollandaise, Dijon mustard and roasted almonds--or the blue cheese-stuffed filet. Veal, shrimp, duck and chicken dishes prepared in varying ways round out the entrees. Find room for the mocha chocolate cheesecake.
