Relax and let your cares slip away.
This charming cabin (built in 1937) with its cozy fireplace has long been a local dining favorite. The wooden deck has romantic views of the Lynnhaven River; an open dining room with 20-foot A-frame ceilings recalls a small church from days gone by. The small bar off to the left serves as a holding area; with 60 different kinds of wine and 30 brands of beer, it's not a bad place to wait.
They offer outdoor seating for the best views of the mesmerizing river.
Since 1939, this Virginia Beach mainstay has built a following by having the best jumbo fantail shrimp in Tidewater. In addition to its reputation, the split shrimp comes with a house orange sauce that's like Thousand Island dressing, but better. Other seafood entrees fare just as well. Lobster bisque gets smooth flavoring from a shot of bourbon; filet of flounder--golden on top; snow white in the middle--is overstuffed with shrimp, oysters or backfin crabmeat. Family recipes predominate.
