Inspired by their favorite Italian city, owners Dwight Bonewell and Adam Smith infused their cozy, candlelit (and usually busy) corner shop with Italian charm. There's a small bar; gold and earthy tones; red-clay Etruscan-esque pottery; a 24-foot reproduction of an Old-World fresco--even an authentic Italian chef in the kitchen. With homemade pastas and ingredients such as mozzarella di bufala and imported San Marzano tomatoes, the menu emphasizes authentic Italian cuisine (bruschetta, pizza, gnocchi with pesto).
An extensive wine list features fine vineyards from around the world, but the house wine is satisfying, tasty and a fraction of the price.
