One of the most relaxing, romantic trips my wife and I have experienced was a leisure road trip through the wine country in Napa Valley, California.
This trip ended up with quite a few unexpected pleasurable surprises.
Our day started at Pier 39 in San Fransisco for some sight seeing, we then drove over the Golden Gate Bridge to make a quick stop at Muir woods.
We intended to stay for 30 minutes and ended up experiencing a 4 hour therapeutic journey through this amazing redwood forest. (Pleasurable Surprise #1.) I have never breathed so deeply in all my life.
We then hopped in the car and drove through the wine country making our way to Napa Valley with a few winery tours along the way.
We made our way to the Carneros Inn, a relaxing haven made up of individual beach style bungalows nestled in the middle of a vineyard.
Pleasurable Surprise #2 was experiencing an outdoor shower in our private courtyard.
While making our way back to San Fransisco we took a detour that led us to Walnut Creek which was our third unexpected surprise. This quaint little town had blocks and blocks of shopping, culture and entertainment.
It was a great trip and we will never forget it.
