#0002 - Date or No Date
by creativeguy

Category: Television Dates    Budget: $10 and up

Brief Description:

CREATIVE SPARK: This date is inspired from the TV show Deal or No Deal.

The Date:

CREATIVE DATE IDEA: There are probably many different ways of creating a theme date around this show, so this is just one idea. If you want to go all out, find or purchase a "metal case" that resembles the ones that they use on the show. I've seen some at office supply stores and then I've seen portable game device cases that look like it as well. After you find your case you are going to...

get some envelopes and put numbers on them along with a category. For instance, let's say that if you have chosen 5 places to eat on your date as possibilites, then you would have 5 envelopes with a piece of paper inside with the name of the restaurant on them. On the outside you would put numbers on them along with the category "places to eat."

Next you would have envelopes for entertainment, desert, and maybe another category that you want to include.
You are going to want to put some really nice places or things to do along with a few lesser exciting things. Your date would not see what you have written until they open the envelopes later in the date.

Here is an example of some envelopes you might have:

Restaurant #1 - McDonalds

Restaurant #2 - Red Lobster

Restaurant #3 - Fancy Place to Eat

Entertainment #1 - Bowling

Entertainment #2 - Movie at Home

Entertainment #3 - Movie in Theater

Entertainment #4 - Play at the local park

Desert #1 - 31 Flavors

Desert #2 - A Snickers Candy Bar

Desert #3 - The Cookie Store

Desert #4 - A kiss from me

Before you start, ask your date to pick one envelope from each category and place it in the "metal case" without looking at them. When you are ready to start the date, ask him/her to choose an envelope from the remaining envelopes in the category that you want to start first. Let's say if you want to eat first, then ask your date to choose a restaurant envelope. After he/she opens the envelope, ask them if they want to do what is in the envelope they just opened or go with what is in the metal case that they chose earlier.

Really play up the suspense. They don't know and you don't know what they chose and put in the case. The selection in the case might be better or worse than what they just chose. The more envelopes you have in each category makes it more fun for you, because you can't guess which one is in the case.

If you are the guy doing this date, shaving your head like Howie Mandel is optional. If you are the girl doing the date for your boy... dressing like the models on Deal or No Deal is highly recommended. Just kidding. Unless you think your date would appreciate either suggestion.
